Sayonara, Summer! August was a pretty good month for me; I finished out the ‘Series of Unfortunate Events‘ (and would still recommend the series despite its dastardly ending!), I’ve officially reached one month here on my blog (woo hoo!), and I did my best to chug along and finish my WIP novel I started during Camp NaNoWriMo earlier this year (it’s still not done, but I’m looking to change that by the end of the month!).
Now Autumn is right around the corner, and despite my love for Summer and my reluctance to let it go this year, I’m now in full-blown Fall mode and ready to curl up in a sweater with a cup of hot cocoa and a great book!
I’ve already shared my September TBR on my Instagram page the first of this month, but I thought it would be a good idea to go into it with a little more detail, so here it goes!
September 2018 TBR
1: THE LEGEND TRILOGY by Marie Lu
Goodreads ratings: 4.18/4.28/4.36 (out of 5.0)
I just recently spoke about the Legend trilogy in my Top 10 Y.A TBR post, so I thought I might as well start cracking into that list! I read the first book, and part of the second book a little over a year ago and absolutely loved them, but fell into a depressive reading slump soon afterwards. So now I’m currently re-reading the first book, there’s already so much going on that I completely forgot about!
2: HOCUS POCUS AND THE ALL NEW SEQUEL by A.W Jantha
Goodreads rating: 3.73
Let’s get one thing straight, I’m not expecting to love this book; in fact, it’s probably super corny and will be disappointing to most Hocus Pocus fans (myself included). However, I’m trying to keep an open mind, and if anything, it will at least be a very entertaining book! I was supposed to go to Disneyland later this month (which has unfortunately been pushed back to October) so I wanted something cute and Disney-ish for Instagram and this is what I found at the bookstore. I do love the cover though, I think it’s adorable.
Let’s get one thing straight; all of September is just the precursor to Halloween, and all of October is Halloween one, Halloween two, etc. So along with Hocus Pocus I thought I’d through a more ‘edgy’ Halloween-y book into my TBR as well. This book comes from a company called Sterling Publishing, who have another very similar book (with an equally gorgeous cover!) called ‘Death and the Afterlife: A Chronological Journey From Cremation to Quantum Resurrection’ by Clifford A. Pickover that I had read previously.
I don’t know if this publishing company has any more of these kinds of books, but I’ll definitely be on the lookout since they’re super cool and entertaining reads!
That’s it for today, but I’d love to know what some of your September TBR’s are, and if you have any special plans for pre-Halloween. Let me know in the comments!
